01About these terms
These terms apply to every quote, order and fitting carried out by Moonlite Blinds and Shutters, Unit 3 Church House, Old Hall Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 3AU. They cover domestic customers; trade and commercial customers are quoted on separate terms available on request.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
02Quotes and orders
Quotes are written, fixed and valid for 30 days. Prices include VAT, measuring and standard fitting unless the quote says otherwise. A quote becomes an order when you accept it (in writing, by message or by paying a deposit) and we confirm it.
Because every blind is made to your measurements, please check the quote carefully — fabric, colour, control side, inside or outside recess — before accepting. Changes after manufacture has started may be charged.
03Measuring
Where we measure, we are responsible for the fit. Where you supply your own measurements (for example supply-only or replacement slats), you are responsible for their accuracy and blinds made to those sizes cannot be returned for sizing errors.
04Deposits and payment
A 50% deposit is payable when you place your order; the balance is due on completion of fitting. For shutters and special-order items a larger deposit may be required and will be stated on the quote. We accept card, bank transfer and cash. Title to the goods passes to you when payment is complete.
05Lead times and delivery
Typical lead times are given on the quote: Fast Track blinds within 5–7 working days, standard made-to-measure blinds usually within one week, shutters 8–12 weeks. These are estimates and not guaranteed; we will keep you informed of any delay and you may cancel for a full refund if a delay exceeds 30 days beyond the estimate.
06Fitting and access
Please ensure windows are accessible, sills are clear and any existing blinds or curtains you want removed are taken down (we can remove them for a small charge if arranged in advance). Fitting involves drilling into frames, walls or ceilings; we take every care but are not responsible for hidden pipes or cables that are not marked. We do not fit to surfaces that are unsafe or unsuitable, and will advise alternatives.
07Cancellation and returns
Made-to-measure goods are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once manufacture has begun. You may cancel free of charge at any time before we start making your blinds. After that, cancellation is at our discretion and the deposit may be retained to cover materials and labour.
Stock items bought without customisation can be returned unused within 14 days for a full refund.
08Warranty
All blinds and fitting are guaranteed for 12 months from the fitting date against defects in materials, mechanisms and workmanship. Shutters and motors may carry longer manufacturer warranties stated on the quote. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, wear from normal use, fading from direct sunlight, or alterations by anyone other than Moonlite. To make a claim, contact us with your order details and a photograph; we will repair or replace at our choice.
09Child safety
Every blind we fit complies with BS EN 13120 and the Make It Safe scheme. Safety devices such as chain tidies and breakaway connectors are fitted as standard and must not be removed. Where a blind is to be fitted near a cot or child’s bed we will recommend a cordless or motorised option.
10Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that was not foreseeable or that is caused by your failure to follow our advice. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
11Complaints and law
If something is wrong, tell us — call 01782 433 333 or email info@moonliteblinds.co.uk and we will aim to resolve it within 14 days. As BBSA members we follow the Association’s code of practice. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
